Open Letter to Congress

Dear Pro Illegal Immigration Congressman and Senator,

You have not helped the people who voted for you and are a disappointment to those of us who believe in a middle-class America. It was wrong to for you to vote for cloture for S. 1639. Please stop supporting this bill!

Most of my friends and the people I know do not believe that we should have to accept amnesty in order to expect enforcement of our Countries existing Immigration Laws.

There are American who will do this work, just not at substandard wages. I know this because I have two children who would do this work for a decent wage. As long as we have Illegal Aliens doing this work for low and untaxed wages, American workers will be denied this employment opportunity.

Open or defenseless borders advocates, as I like to call you, should be ashamed of yourselves for holding enforcement hostage to amnesty. This is borderline, if not outright, treason.

You, on the other hand, for some reason, have not voted the way your constituents want you to vote on this issue, who, like some of your colleagues, seem to be voting for some self perceived higher moral ground or maybe just a shallow show of support for "Special Interests Groups" that benefit from cheap labor and the money that these groups can put into your campaign coffers.

The American people deserve better than S. 1639-- which would reward those people who have flouted our laws. The American people deserve a bill which would secure the border, not a bill which would legalize illegal aliens, while allowing more illegal aliens to enter the country.

I know it won’t be easy to go against the majority of your party and vote NO on cloture on S. 1639, but I think that all those who helped put you in office all these years would appreciate it! Please vote against amnesty.

Sincerely counting on you,

Bill, “Middle Class American”

What Happened to Our Government?

What happened to our Government? You know, the one “Of the People, For the People, By the People.”

The People spoke to the Michigan State Government and told them that Motorcycle Riders wanted to ride without the burden of wearing a Helmut. The Legislature, both Houses, responded and repealed the Law. Governor Grandholm responded by ignoring the People and their wishes by vetoing this piece of legislation. Why? Because of the Insurance Lobby and her liberal supporters beliefs that the Government must protect those they deem less intelligent to make their own personal decisions on what is safe and what is not.

The Insurance Industry, under the guise of “Protecting the health and welfare” of us common folk, merely want to protect their bottom line. The Governors camp, as I stated previously, thinks the Citizens of this great State too ignorant to know when to wear a helmet and when not to. If it were up to these people, they would regulate what we ate, where we went and how we raise our families. But, do not laugh, because they are moving in that direction.

We can no longer decide whether we eat food made with Trans-Fats or not, the Government is seeing to it that we don’t. Whether at the Federal, State or local levels, the Government is telling us to live the way they deem appropriate, or they will force their will on us.

No one can deny that smoking is unhealthy, but our personal choice to smoke or not to smoke is being taken away, for the greater good, as the bureaucrats see it. If they do it to cigarettes today, then tomorrow they ban eating a “Big-Mac.” No, you say, well, in Chicago, you can no longer legally eat “Foie gras.” Why? Some “Do-Gooders” have deemed that the making of “Foie gras” is “Inhumane” and ”Cruel.” Yes, goose-liver today and beef tomorrow.

The Government is even telling Doctors that they are not even smart enough to make informed and intelligent decisions. Doctors are afraid to prescribe painkillers or use marijuana for the treatment or control of pain. In the eyes of the Government only “Dopers” use marijuana and the use of it only leads to the use of “Crack” and “Black Tar Heroin.” The Government has instilled a fear in the Doctors minds that if they prescribe strong pain-killers, that they are fostering “Drug Abuse.” Never mind telling a Dentist that Tylenol 3 doesn’t work for you in controlling the pain of Oral Surgery and you would prefer Percadan. As far as he or she is concerned, thanks to Government interference, if you ask for one drug over another, you are automatically suspected a Drug Abuser.

The Massachusetts Government legalized “Gay Marriage.” The “People” were appalled. Petitions were circulated to put it to a vote. The Government voted not to give their Citizens the chance to vote it up or down, because first of all, they know what is best and what is right and wrong. Second of all, they know if it were put to a vote, “Gay Marriage” would be voted down. The heck with what the People want, the Government will save us from ourselves.

Look at the Federal Level of Government. Immigration Reform comes to mind. The Bill President Bush is pushing is not what the People want, but He does not care, it is what he wants and thinks is best for us, never mind all the negative feedback He and Congress has been getting on this legistlation.

Stem Cell research is another. The majority of Americans believe this research is needed unimpeded by Government, but a bunch of religious fanatics are imposing their will and beliefs on us, including the Presidents religious views. What happened to the separation of Church and State?

Lets talk about a real controversial subject, Abortion. There are two Camps, those opposed (me) and those who support it. Why is the Government even in this fray. The answer to this problem is simple: If you think abortion is OK, then you make a decision to have one or not. If you think it is wrong, then don’t have one. My, how simple is that.

Bottom line is, Government should not be making personal decisions for you or me.

Rights

If we Americans do not wake up soon, we are going to see every FREEDOM we enjoy taken away from us.

New York City has outlawed Trans-Fat, for our own good, and Chicago has outlawed the sale of Foie Gras (Goose Liver) because of animal rights issues.

We are also familiar with “Gun Control” and “Anti Gun” Groups (the same) and what they are trying to do to the Second Amendment. It is funny (not) how this right, as opposed to all the other rights, was not meant for the individual, but for the Government (their view). Is the Government only entitled to “Freedom of the Press”, “Freedom of Religion” or “Freedom of” anything else we hold dear. With not much thought, we would easily be able answer “NO”. Therefore we are entitled to be able to possess guns individually, just as we are entitled to “Freedom of Speech”.

“Freedom of Speech” does not just allow us to speak, but protects our right to the thought process behind what we are saying. Freedom of speech was never to have been misconstrued to mean we have the right to verbally abuse someone or some group. It was never meant to protect someone to use foul or offensive language in public places. It very simply meant that the Citizens of this great Nation could express their views in a civil manner without fear of public humiliation or Government interference. Just because you do not agree with my point of view or I do not agree with yours, does not make me or you a MORON.

“Freedom of Religion” is another “Right” that is slowly being redefined. This Right was meant to keep the Government from forcing a State Religion on us, as the English monarchy did when our Country won our independence from them. It meant that we could practice religion as we saw fit, not how we “Could Not” practice it, as its new meaning is defined. I find it bothersome that my child cannot wear a T-shirt to school with a Cross on it, yet in Hamtrammick, MI; the Muslims can broadcast their call to prayers over a citywide public address system. That seems fair to everyone (not).

And now, back to “Foie Gras” and French-fries. If we continue to let them get away with outlawing Trans-Fats, for our own good and Goose Liver, because of animal rights or cruelty issues, then the outlawing of Hotdogs and Hamburgers on the grill on the 4th of July cannot be far behind. Killing cows for meat is cruel and overcooking them on a grill creates carcinogens.

Take heed: Whenever any government starts passing laws to protect its Citizens from making wrong choices, it is only a matter of time before that government enslaves its Citizens. Just look around, observe what is happening in other parts of this world. Read some history books. It has happened time after time throughout history and is happening around the world now, as we speak. Are we just blind or are we just too stupid to see it coming. Whichever it is, we will ultimately deserve whatever it is we get.

To Protect and Serve "Who?!?!"

I was reading about the farmer, from the area of Bradford Township, MN. who chased down a thief and held him at gunpoint until the “Authorities”, who he himself called, arrived, now faces a more serious charge than the thief himself.

The farmer, Kenneth Englund, 74, was charged with second-degree assault, a felony. The actual criminal and thief, who the sheriff said had admitted stealing gasoline from Mr. Englund's neighbor, ended up being charged with misdemeanor theft.

What bothers me the most is what Sheriff Mike Ammend said: “People can't take the law into their own hands”, and “that Englund's actions were an invitation to a shootout, there's so many things that could have gone wrong here."

So, as most Law Enforcement Officials say, “This was another case of ordinary citizens taking the law into their own hands”. Two questions come to my mind: “Whoever said that only paid Law Enforcement Officials can enforce laws?” and “Who came up with this concept?” In this case what actually did take place: First, the thief did, admittedly, steal the gasoline, therefore, crime committed. Second, Mr. Englund never fired a shot, no one got hurt, therefore NO crime committed. Who gets a slap on the wrist and who gets screwed over by the Trained, Paid, Professional, Unionized and Armed Law Enforcement “Authorities.”

Now, I am not suggesting that everybody should be able to pull other drivers over for traffic violations or arrest people for passing on the right. We don’t want everyone to start entrapping their neighbors or setting traps, but what is wrong with holding or even chasing people that have so obviously broken the law as described earlier.

Why is it that if someone steals my car I cannot give chase and recover my own car? Why is it that if someone pulls a gun on me and takes my wallet, the police advise me to let them have it, walk away and call the paid Law Enforcement “Authorities”, so they can take care of it? (Which they never do 99% of the time.)

Taking the “Law into our own hands” is one of the phrases that I consider Anti-Freedom Rhetoric. The Law should be in our own hands. We should be able to protect ourselves, our families and our property. This means if you break into my house, whether you are armed or not, whether you are 14 or 40 years old, if you end up with one of my bullets coursing through your brain causing “Sudden Death Syndrome”, well, shame on you.

If your little innocent 20 year old child tries to rob me and I beat him or her into a comatose veggie, whose fault is that? Really, take your pick, either it is the kids fault, or mom and dads, it surely isn’t mine. I mean really, getting robbed, mugged, beat up or otherwise assaulted, is not my idea of “Freedom of Expression.”

Why do we allow our justice system to be perverted by the so called Liberal Do-Gooders, who want to “Protect” us from ourselves? How can “Liberal Do-Gooders” possibly say that a policing system that may have worked 300 years ago still works today? Have they not noticed that the number of Law Enforcers out on the street has not quite kept pace with population growth?

One thing is for sure, if we had more neighbors like Mr. Englund, I bet there would be less crime. Mr. Englund, Thank you.

Double Standards

Newsflash: Rape is OK. Torture is OK. Murder, kidnapping, discrimination, extortion, slavery and censorship are all OK.

Just not in our country.

A few years ago there was a rash of rapes of schoolchildren on their way to school in Detroit. The major Newspapers and TV News Stations in Detroit were appalled that this could go on in a city like Detroit. Where were our Political and Moral Leaders, our police? What was the School District doing to combat this atrocity? And if you were any type of respectable parent, you would be escorting your children to and from school.

So answer me a question. Why do we tolerate the Rape, Murder, Torture, Enslavement or other violations the Human Rights that we hold so dear here in the United States of America, in foreign countries?

Iraq comes to mind, among others, like maybe the entire continent of Africa, or at least 99% of it.

Where did the notion that if "Wrongs" are committed outside of our Country, it is of no concern to us. It’s “None of our business,” so to speak.

Let’s get specific. Let us concentrate on Iraq, as most of the world seems to be right now.

The Government of Iraq used torture against their own citizens, raped and murdered the very people you would think that the Iraqi Government would have instead strove to protect. But the government of Iraq was not in business to “Protect and Serve”, but to “Control and Enslave.”

Saddam fought a war with Iran not to improve the safety or wellbeing of his citizens, but to add to his “Personal Empire.” He did the same thing to Kuwait. And look what he did in both cases. Kidnapped citizens of the countries he invaded, raped them, murdered them and enslaved more than just a few. Some of these people are still missing.

Take a time out for just one minute and think about what life is like for a person who saw their relatives raped, beaten and murdered, or maybe just not knowing what happened to your brother or sister, father and mother, son or daughter, you just know they are nowhere to be found.

This is "None of our business?" We don't belong there? We don't have the authority, either morally or legally, to intervene on the behalf of the oppressed of this world? I ask you how this travesty can NOT be our “Business?”

Oh, I've heard the Official Rhetoric of the "Politicians" and the Hollywood Experts. (Funny how making a couple of popular movies or singing a couple of #1 Hits all of a sudden makes you expert on Foreign Relations and in Political Science.)

A few of my favorites:

WMD's. Oh, yeah. This one is so precious. “We went in there to rid Iraq of ‘Weapons of Mass Destruction’ and there weren’t any.” Did we now? Maybe I’m slow or stupid, but I thought we went in there to overthrow an Evil Government (who never let the WMD Inspectors do their job), much like we did in the case of Hitler. And the weapons we did not find? I have two thoughts on this subject. First, most of the world thought he had them. Europeans and Americans, Democrats and Republicans, Blacks and Whites, absolutely 99% of the world’s leadership thought he had them. (Maybe Cuba and Libya didn’t). Second, Saddam knew he didn’t have any, but did he ever deny it? (By the way, the answer is “No.”)

Iraq was a Sovereign Country; we had no authority to go in there. So was Japan and Germany.

We should have waited on the U.N. Oh, please, that place is so corrupt, mismanaged and ineffective, it would be funny, if it wasn’t so sad.

We should have let the Arabs take care of their own problems. I’m glad we did not take that stance with the people in another region after the Tsunami hit, aren’t you?

We should have let the Iraqis take care of their own problems. Yeah, that worked out well for the world community in the Balkans and Rwanda, didn’t it?

Diplomacy should have been given more time. Yep, that’s working out real well for us in Iran and North Korea, isn’t it?

If we were Luxembourg, yea, probably not much we could do about anything I’ve brought up here, but we aren’t. We are the United Sates of America. We are not the world’s policeman, but, we need to help those who cannot help themselves. That is what a “Moral People” do. It is what a “Moral Country” should do. The USA should no more turn its back on the “Worlds Oppressed Peoples” than you should turn your back on a sick and dying sibling.
